AMAVUBI DEFENDER Mbuyu Twite has asked former Tanzania league champions Yanga FC to part with Rwf40m (Approx. Tshs 80m) under a new contract for him to keep at the Jangwani-based club.
Mbuyu’s contract expires on May 20 after two seasons with Young Africans, a team he joined from APR.
Tanzania media reported that Mbuyu is demanding over Rwf 40 million (Approx. Tshs 80m) but the demand has not been received well by the club ‘leaders including the head coach.
The current coach Hans Pluijm is against the idea of giving players recruitment fee at once. He says some African players lack commitment after getting all their money from the signed deal.
Hans said that players must be given a part of their wage at the beginning, and the rest must come in the middle of the signed contract.
However, Yanga’s reluctance to clear the issue could be a huge benefit to champions Azam FC who are ready to cash-in for Mbuyu, regarded as the best defender in the region.
Azam has already signed key players such as Burundian Didier Kavumbagu and Frank Domayo from rivals Yanga as part of beefing up the club ahead of next year’s Africa Champions League.
