THE Rwanda Archery Federation has kicked off preparations for their mission of securing a slot in the 2016 Olympic Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
Archery, a sport consisting of propelling arrows with the use of a bow has now marked an outstanding progress as the federation prioritizes participation in the 2016 Olympic Games.
The Federation’s chairman Richard Muhumuza said that they have started preparing Rwandan archers to ensure that they gain exposure and experience needed in securing the qualification.
"We are now celebrating two years of existence as a federation and we are very ambitious of securing a qualification to Brazil. Archers from different clubs in Rwanda are determinate. We have got enough equipment and our coaches are well-trained to achieve our target,” said Muhumuza.
In Rwanda, Archery is pursued by four clubs namely New Vision Pointers, TUC, Muhanga Indomitable and SWACA. The Federation is planning to spread the sport in various schools across the country.
Rwanda Archery Federation was recognised as the member of World Archery Federation late in September, 2013.
