RWANDA’S lead professional golfer Jean Baptista Hakizimana managed a fourth-place finish as Rwanda staged a dismal performance in the 2014 edition of the Burundi Golf Open.
The Nyarutarama-based golfer scored 73, 70 and 74 to finish the tournament with an overall fourth with a score of 217.
It was a Kenyan affair in Burundi Open as Dismas Indiza won the tournament after scoring 77, 65 and 65 to finish with a score of 207.
David Odhiambo and Simon Ngigi scooped second and third with 72, 68 and 72 with a score of 212 points as well as 71, 73 and 71 with a score of 215 points respectively.
The other Rwandan representatives Emmanuel Ruterana and Ernest Ndayisenga finished 13th and 14th overall, respectively.
The 16th edition of Burundi Golf Open attracted golf professionals and amateur golfers from Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and DR Congo (Lubumbashi club).
The Burundians won only the second category in the amateurs while Uganda secured top lead in the first category in the amateurs.
