RWANDA Cycling Federation (Ferwacy) has named the youth national team ahead of the upcoming African Youth Games, slated in Botswana, Gaborone from May 20- 31.
RWANDA Cycling Federation (Ferwacy) has named the youth national team ahead of the upcoming African Youth Games, slated in Botswana, Gaborone from May 20- 31.
The national team is comprised of both boys and girls. They include; Benita Uwamariya and Clementine Niyonsaba, who will compete in the girls road race, while Joseph Aleluya, in the road race, Samuel Hakiruwizeye, Omar Nizeyimana and Ephrem Tuyishime are all set to compete in the boys team time trial. The team is currently undergoing intensive training in Musanze with senior players who make the national Team Rwanda. Rwanda will be represented by 48 athletes, 29 female and 19 male at the upcoming second edition of the African Youth Games.
Rwanda will compete in 12 sporting disciplines including athletics, basketball (3 on 3), boxing, cycling, fencing, golf, karate, lawn tennis, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and volleyball.
This is the first time that Rwanda will take part in the continental youth games which have set a platform for the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) that will be held in Nanjing, China from August 16-28.
