Gospel artiste Aline Gahongayire owns a fashion house called Alga Fashion Inc. that specialises mostly in outfits for plus-size women. 

The ‘Ntankoz’Isoni’ star shared with Society Magazine’s Doreen Umutesi the fashion trends that work best for her. 

How would you describe your dress sense?

My dress sense is colourful, adventurous and innovative. I design almost everything I wear. 

What’s your favourite clothing item?

Short and long dresses are my favourite clothing items. But when I’m to perform, the dress should have a little bit of glitter. 

Where do you shop for clothes?

I own a shop which sells different designer outfits. I design most of my clothes especially made from African fabric. But that doesn’t mean when I see something nice I won’t buy it. 

What do you consider when shopping clothes?

Besides the quality of the fabric of an outfit, the things I consider when shopping is colour and how comfortable I feel when I try on the outfit.  Since purple is my favourite colour, I will definitely be attracted to any outfit that has purple in it.  

What is your favourite fashion accessory?

My favourite accessory is jewelry, especially pearls. I will make any excuse to wear pearls. 

What is your favourite clothing item on a guy?

I think casual smart brings out the best in any guy. For instance if he folds his sleeves neatly, whether he has on jeans or khaki pants, he will definitely look nice. 

What’s your favourite scent?

I love different body sprays and perfumes but Gucci Guilty is my favourite.  

Any fashion advice?

Fashion is life. Everyone is a fashion icon or designer. Come to think of it, no one is told what outfit to wear. You pick what suits you and before you know it, the outfit is a head-turner. 

 All that matters is that if you love yourself, you will dress up in an outfit that is comfortable and you will be smart.
