AIRTEL-RWANDA Managing Director, Teddy Bhullar has pledged continued support of football in Rwanda, especially at the grassroots level.

As part of football development, Airtel-Rwanda has brought in two tutelage coaches from the Arsenal Academy to facilitate the Airtel Rising Stars programme.

Rupen Shah and Nathan Asare are part of the Arsenal delegation in the country to conduct a one-week ‘Arsenal Soccer Clinic’ for U17 footballers from different African countries set to close on Friday.

"We will continue to support Rwandan Football, and it is good to help the young to love and play the game. Airtel will continue to support sports education in the country to ensure that the game remains strong right from the grass roots,” Bhullar said.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal captain Tony Adams jetted into the country last night for a three-day visit during which he will launch the Airtel Rising Stars Season 2.

This year’s Airtel Rising Stars will focus on identifying grassroots football talent across the country to represent Rwanda in the Pan African Tourney held across all the 17 African countries in which Bharti Airtel operates.

The 30 players taking part in this year’s Airtel-Arsenal Soccer Clinic have come from hosts Rwanda, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana and Zambia, the defending champions of last year’s Airtel Rising Stars a tournament.
