THE BOTSWANA football federation has expressed interest to host Rwanda in a build-up match ahead of the upcoming 2015 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Burundi. 

Just like Rwanda, Botswana’s senior national football team, Zebras has to negotiate a tough road to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for Morocco early next year. 

The Zebras find their way against Burundi in a two-legged preliminary first round qualifier. They will travel to Bujumbura to face the ‘Intamba mu Rugamba’ of Burundi in the weekend of May 16-18. 

Botswana will then host Burundi in Gaborone in a return fixture scheduled for the weekend of May 30-June 1. 

Botswana wants the build-up match played on May 10 in Gaborone, according to Ferwafa chief Vincent Degaule Nzamwita. 

Speaking to Times Sport this week, Nzamwita said, "Our counterparts from Botswana have requested for a friendly match as part of their preparations for their qualifying match against Burundi.” 

"We have told them to make the official request and then see how both parties can make it happen because this match would also be vital for our national team’s preparations before we face Libya,” added Nzamwita. 

Coach Peter Butler will be willing to ensure Botswana joins the toughest group which consists of Egypt, Tunisia and Senegal but real work has to begin past Burundi before facing the winner between Central African Republic and Guinea Bissau in the second round. 

Rwanda, which is set to appoint a new head coach next week, will face CHAN title holders Libya on May 18 in the first leg. A new head coach will use this game to select his formidable squad which he will employ in the qualification campaign. 

The second leg between Rwanda and Libya will be played between the weekend of May 30 and June 1, and the winners of the game will date either Namibia or Congo to decide who proceeds to group stages.
