THE NATIONAL basketball regular league second round gets underway today when title hopefuls Cercle Sportif de Kigali (CSK) host strugglers 30-Plus in Rugunga.

In other matches today, United Generation (UGB) Basketball club will be up against Integrated Polytechnic Regional Center-Kicukiro at Amahoro indoor stadium, while National University of Rwanda host Rusizi.

The 2011 champions CSK are currently second on the table with 19 points, one behind the reigning champions Espoir, who finished the first round unbeaten. CSK won nine and lost one (against Espoir) of their ten first round games.

"We have three matches this weekend, and if we win all of them, it would put us in a good position to push for the title. The ideal is to finish the second round unbeaten and see what happens elsewhere,” said CSK head coach Janvier Kamanzi.

The Rugunga-based CSK closed their first round with a huge 100-44 win over Huye-based NUR with Mike Buzangu scoring the game high 49 points, while his elder brother Patrick Buzangu added 34 points.
