FORMER ARSENAL and England skipper Tony Adams jets into the country this evening for a three-day visit during which he will launch the Airtel Rising Stars Season 2.

This year’s Airtel Rising Stars will focus on identifying grassroots football talent across the country to represent Rwanda in the Pan African Tourney held across all the 17 African countries in which Bharti Airtel operates.

Adams will join a delegation from Arsenal, already in the country to conduct a one-week ‘Arsenal Soccer Clinic’ for U17 footballers from different African countries set to close on Friday.

The Arsenal legend will share his legendary football tips and skills in conjunction with coaches from the Arsenal Soccer School.

Adams’ visit will see him conduct a two-day Airtel-Arsenal ‘Coach the Coaches session for selected local coaches, who will be equipped with training skills on how young professional footballers play the ‘Arsenal way’.

Meanwhile, the Rwanda boys’ team has been joined by four girls, which brings the total number of Rwandan participants to eight. 

The Rwandan girls’ team includes Sofi Niyomugaba, Sandrine Niyigena Diane Umumararungu, Sudga Umwariwase all who play for the local AS Kigali FC Academy.

In the boy’s category, Rwanda is represented by DjihadiNzeyarwanda, Rashid Bigiraneza, Jack Ntwali and Patrick Ndikumana all from Isonga FC.
