APR women volleyball Club managed to finish 10th as Algeria's GSP won the Women's African Club Championship title after a historic win against five-time champions Kenya Prisons 3-0 (30-28, 25-15, 25-9) over the weekend. "We did our best, though we didn’t manage to achieve our target. We gained experience from this competition. It will be vital for our campaign to improve women volleyball in the country,”
"Our focus will now be shifted to the league title and hope to defend the title again,” Sibomana said.
Chlef defeated APR 3-1 (25-17, 25-15, 16-25, 25-20) in 94 minutes to clinch the 9th position leaving APR to settle for 10th place. Rwandan league champions, APR women volleyball club secured two wins at the ongoing Africa Club Championships. Viateur Sibomana’s side defeated Ugandan team’s Nkumba University 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-21 and Ndejje University 3-2 (35-17, 25-19, 11-25, 17-25 and 15-12) in the tournament.
The winner of the African title GSP will however go through a qualification play-off against other teams to snatch a slot for the World Club Championships to be held in Zurich later this year.
