RWANDA Handball Federation (Ferwahand) is organising a Labour Day Tournament scheduled for May 3 and 4 in Kigali.
Ferwahand’s Secretary General Jean Paul Ngarambe said that the tournament which will attract different clubs in both men and women categories will be held at Kimisagara youth sports centre, Amahoro stadium and KIE grounds.
The clubs expected to participate include defending champions Gicumbi, Police, APR, UR-CE, UR-Cass, G.S Rambura, ES Kigoma, Nyakabanda and St. Aloys in the men’s category.
The women category will be comprised of clubs such as Gorillas, UR-CE, G.S Mwendo, ES Mukingi, TSS Apega Gahen and Duha Complex School. According to Ngarambe, the competition started way back in 2003 and since then KIE and Gicumbi handball clubs have won the tournament several times.
KIE won the tournament in 2003, 2004 and 2006 before Gicumbi dethroned them in 2008, 2009 and 2013.
