KARONGI—A 19-year old girl has been arrested by police in Kibuye for allegedly possessing drugs. At the time of arrest, Umurerwa Zainabu was found with two suitcases full of the drugs at Rubengera bus stop.

Umurerwa who is currently detained at Kibuye Police Station was caught with 25 Kgs of marijuana on Saturday at about 6 am as she tried to board a taxi to Kigali.

She was brought to Kibuye police station yesterday morning after being arrested in Rubengera where she spent one day in the Rubengera police custody.

"This is the third time I was doing this,” said Umurerwa after the arrest.  Adding it was just an accident that she was caught.

"I would leave as early as five o’clock in the morning though this time I was late by one hour,” she said.

Umurerwa was reportedly a distributor for a certain man of Congolese origin only identified as George, who would import the drugs from Congo through Gisenyi.

George would then give the drugs to his sister only identified as mama Fillette who would deliver them to Congo nile (Rutsiro district) where they would meet with Umurerwa who would take them to Kigali through the Kibuye-Kigali high way.
