Regional construction companies, manufacturers, real estate developers, mortgage providers and interior designers will converge in Kigali to show case their products and services at the inaugural property expo scheduled for August.

The Rwanda Property Expo 2014 is scheduled for August 27-31, and is expected to attract over 500 companies from across the region, according to Tonny Omara, the managing director Brand Revolution, a communication firm, the organisers of the event.

The five-day annual exhibition seeks to promote Rwanda as a property market, Omara added.

"This is not only a business opportunity for investors to showcase their products and services, but also a chance for Rwanda to position itself as a property market hub in the region. It is  also a platform  for local firms to network, share experience and forge business partnerships that would help take their enterprises to another level,” Omara said.

The event is being supported by Ministry of Infrastructure, the Rwanda Housing Authority and the Rwanda Development Board.

Stephen Owamazima, marketing manager Real Contractors, said that the expo is an opportunity for companies to market their products.

"The expo is timely...As  East African regional integration takes shape, local companies should start thinking regionally and position themselves well to benefit from the opportunities that come with integration.

The regional exhibition was held in Nairobi, Kenya last year.
