Rubavu-based Benediction cycling club rider Jean Basco Nsengiyumva won the Tour des Volcans, Rubavu-Musanze on Sunday. The 22-year-old Nsengiyumva dominated other riders to win the 70km race in a time of 1h50’07’.

He was followed by teammates Jean Bosco Hakuzimana, Bonaventure Uwizeyimana and Theoneste Karasira in 1h50’55, 1h57’02 and 1h57’07 respectively.
Rwamagana-based Amis Sportifs club riders Abdalla Nzabonimpa came in fifth position after clocking 1h57’08 and in sixth position was Ephrem Tuyishimire in 1h57’09. Other Benediction Club riders including Nathan Byukusenge, Gasore Hategeka, Patrick Byukusenge and Janvier Hadi clocked 1h57’39, 1h57’40, 1h57’40 and 1h57’41 respectively.
The one-day event attracted a total of 45 from five clubs including; Cine Elmay, Amis Sportifs, Cycling Club For All, Fly Club and Benediction Club. According to the Rwanda Cycling Federation officials, the race was held to evaluate the level of riders and to keep them in a competitive mood.
