COMPUTER POINT has injected Rwf1.8m into this year’s edition of the Twenty20 cricket tournament which kicks off tomorrow with men’s action at Kicukiro oval. This is the fourth edition of the annual tournament.
"We appreciate Computer Point’s contribution today, as well as their past support towards cricket in Rwanda,” said Rwanda Cricket Association (RCA) General Manager Joshua Mwanja.
As for Computer Point Ltd General Manager Dinesh Vachakkara, the company’s support to the cricket is in line with its corporate social responsibility.
"As a company, we are driven by the desire to leave a permanent impact everywhere we go and sports is one platform where we believe we can cause a lot of change. Our support to cricket locally is holed in this belief,” he said.
The draw for this year’s tournament was held on Thursday where nine clubs were divided into two groups in the men’s category.
Group A is comprised of defending champions Challengers alongside Impala Titans, Kigali and Victory Cricket Club respectively.
Group B is made up of last year’s losing finalists Telugu alongside Indorwa, Right Guards, Kerala Hunters and Indo-Pak.
The women’s tournament, which begins next weekend, will involve defending champions White Clouds Charity, Queens of Victory and Kigali Angels, who will play on a round-robin basis.
