AS Muhanga’s woes are getting from bad to worse.  Players of the troubled club have threatened to shun today’s league match against Police unless their salary arrears for the last three months are paid.

In a petition which Saturday Sport has seen, 29 players have written to the club management expressing their concerns over unpaid arrears.

"After failure to put into action several promises of paying our salaries for the last three months, we have decided to call off our training sessions and even the remaining two matches to the end of the season,”

"We have written this letter requesting the management to respect our contracts and pay our arrears with immediate effect,” the letter reads in part.

AS Muhanga spokesman Innocent Gashugi, who also doubles as Muhanga district director of sports and culture, could not comment on the matter, saying, "I am not in position to say anything regarding the matter.”

Head coach Ally Bizimungu, who returned back from Kampala mid this week, was surprised to find no player at the club’s training base.

It is not clear if the players will stick to their guns and not turn up for today’s penultimate game of the season. The club is sponsored by Muhanga district.

AS Muhanga reached the Peace Cup final but were eliminated from this year’s competition in 1/8 round. APR, also lost 3-0 to Gicumbi in their last league outing.

The Muhanga-based side is 13th in the 14-team league with 18 points, one ahead of bottom side Amagaju FC and two behind 12th-placed Esperance with two rounds of matches remaining.

The players, who signed on the petition  letter include; Auxel Mudeyi, Aboubakar Nshimiyimana, Jacques Kimenyi, Eric Irambona, Dominique Ndayishimiye, Kawawa Iyamuremye, Frank Makengo, Innocent Nzabarinda, Said Claude Mumbere and Simon Tshipagila.

Others are; Emmanuel Hakizimana, Jean Paul Uwihoreye, Dieudonne Ndayishimiye, Kabesi Hategikimana, Anselme Niyonsaba, Crespe Ibyimana,Ally Nsengimana, Amadi Uzasakiriho, Amielle Mpamo, Kenny Nizigiyimana, Hassan Djumaine, Nasser Irakoze, Alloy Ibrahim, Isaac Kisujju, Ibrahim Kugundu, Eric Yirirwahandi, Kassim Nsengiyumva, Faradji Ndongozi and Martin Elungat.
