President Paul Kagame is today expected to address the student community and faculty members at Stanford University at the invitation of the Dean of the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Garth Saloner.

The speech is part of the California-based University’s Global Speaker Series which seeks to nurture an educated global perspective within Stanford University by inviting top executives, government leaders, and other distinguished guests to speak on global topics.

Kagame is expected to share personal reflections on leadership qualities and inspire students to develop as future leaders in their fields of choice.

"President Kagame has received recognition for his leadership in peace building and reconciliation, development, good governance, promotion of human rights and women’s empowerment, and advancement of education and ICT,” a statement on the university’s website reads in part.

"He is widely sought after to address regional and international audiences on a range of issues including African development, leadership, and the potential of ICT as a dynamic industry as well as an enabler for Africa’s socioeconomic transformation,” it adds.

The session will be interactive in form of question-and-answers and will be attended by 300 first and second year MBA students, as well as university staff, according to a statement from the President’s Office.
