Refer to the story, "Development is about human dignity – Kagame” (The New Times, April 24).  "Development is not just about human rights but also human dignity”. Well done Mr. President; you nailed it.

After reading much of Rwandan leadership history, I find President Kagame easily the most visionary leader Rwanda has ever had. He’s a patriotic, smart and visionary leader who took Rwanda from the bottom of hell to the track of resilience and self-reliance.

It’s not only that: One of the highly noticed achievements made by Rwanda since the implementation of EDPRS I is the fact that poverty levels dropped by almost 12 per cent in five years, from 56.7 per cent in 2006 to 44.9 per cent in 2011. This progress has been attainable partly because the Government of Rwanda empowers every citizen to take the lead in their own community’s development.

There are many amazing things in every field to crow about under the leadership of President Kagame. For instance, at least a million people have been lifted out of poverty over the last five years i.e economic growth between 2006 and 2011 reduced the number of the country’s 11 million people living in poverty from 57 to 45 per cent.

African human situation is always at its best at neglecting its own intelligence. With President Kagame at the helm, Rwanda has a great chance to cement and smarten much of its productive institutions.
