DAVID MOYES’ departure from Manchester United was the talk of town among football lovers on Tuesday. 

As soon as Manchester United’s official Twitter account confirmed that David Moyes was sacked, Twitter and facebook was awash with reactions from fans and pundits alike. 

#MoyesSacked almost immediately began trending worldwide on the social network as users tweeted their 140-character reactions to Tuesday morning’s news. Most were not surprised by the news given Moyes’ track record since he took over the club. 

A Manchester United fan Vincent Bivince said, "Thanks to David Moyes for his time as Man Utd manager, I am sure there will be many mid table clubs to use his skills.” 

A Ugandan football analyst Mark Namanya said, "Moyes is an honest, affable gentleman whose only problem was to try to step in exceptionally huge shoes. He failed the day he was appointed.” 

A staunch United fan and a journalist Ivan R. Mugisha told Times Sport that the first mistake they made was to hire a coach who had nothing to show for style or trophies. 

"He was at Everton for more than ten years and yet under Martinez in just one year, Everton has achieved more than Moyes could in all those years. Simply put, it is a very important step that United have taken to fire a man that was handpicked by the Great Sir Alex Ferguson.” 

"Whoever is given the job must make sure he uses the players available to achieve something good,” added Mugisha. 

Another United fan Usher Komugisha also said, "This decision was a long time coming especially after the disastrous run of form at Old Trafford coupled with home and away defeats to arch-rivals Manchester City and Liverpool and Sunday’s defeat to Everton at Goodison Park didn’t make it easier for him. 

"David Moyes is a good manager but he is not good enough for a club as big as Manchester United. The minute he lost the backing of the players that is when he lost his job.” 

"You can tell from the players’ body language that they are not playing for him at all. Remember when Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge, how do you even face him at half time in the dressing room when you are two goals down? You are probably so scared that you will be three goals up in the 70th minute. That has not happened with Moyes.” 

"There have been glimpses of good football but not consistent enough to the expectations of the fans and that is just not enough for a club of Manchester United’s stature,” added Komugisha. 

Dan Ngabonziza said, "David Moyes sacking is long overdue. We’re glad that the Management of Manchester United has paid ample attention to our complaints. His sacking proves Manchester United is a great club that suits a manager with elite experience not only in British football but also on a European level. We look forward to a new manager. 

A Kenyan supporter Andrew Olukoye said, "His sacking was long overdue. Just recently you have been accusing Kenyan clubs especially AFC Leopards...now you see? Success in football is about trophies. Let him go.. United was too BIG for him,” 

For Jeremiah Rawlings Radido the biggest mistake Moyes did was to underrate the players before even he started the job of coaching United. "He had to be sacked and that was a great move by the management.” 

Simon Bagumaho from neighbouring Uganda said, "I tried to stay up all night awaiting news but got tired and slept off. Too late, but the best decision by a mile!! Question is who comes in permanently next season?! 

A local journalist Thierry Mpamo Tigos said that sacking Moyes was the right decision for Man Utd. "I think Jurgen Klopp could be the right man in this position.”
