The Kigali Employment Service Centre (KESC) will on Monday conduct a special job and career fair, where hundreds of job-seekers and potential employers will meet and network.
Kigali Employment Service Centre said in a statement yesterday that the event code-named Job Net aims at promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship among the youth, and the Rwandan workforce generally. It also seeks to give job-seekers and employers an opportunity to network and exchanging information about the labour market and career opportunities, the statement added.
The event will take place at the Kigali Serena Hotel. About 30 potential employers and 500 job-seekers are expected to participate, according to the Kigali Employment Service Centre.
The centre is presently training participants at its Kimisagara offices in Nyarugenge District in preparation for the fair. The five-day labour market clinic that started on Monday is focusing on different topics like self-assessment and profiling as well as how to write resumes.
"We are preparing job-seekers on how to conduct themselves when they are interacting with potential employers,” said Eric Rukundo Sebasore, one of KESC partners, after Monday’s training session.
Bernard Bizimana, one of the job-seekers, said the preparation session equipped him with networking skills.
"Now I know how best to interact and network with potential employers, as well as make thorough online job searches thanks to the skills attained during the Job Net preparation clinic on Monday,” he said.
The Kigali Employment Service Centre that was launched last year is tasked with linking job-seekers to potential employers, as well as counselling and training them.
