Hope kids Academy and Hope Junior Academy, an international school in partnership with Tigo Rwanda, on Saturday donated cash to Genocide survivors in Kinyinga village in Gasabo District.

Hope Academy gave them foodstuff and cash totalling to Rwf3 million while Tigo Rwanda handed them a cheque worth Rwf1 million for income generating projects.

"Lets have love and respect for our neighbours and always commit to dialogue when issues a rise,” Isa Gokturk Yilmaz, the headteacher  of Hope Academy said. 

He urged Rwandans to  accommodate each other to avoid violence like the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

 "We are not a school that focuses only on academics but also develop the moral values of students,” he said

Gokturk thanked Tigo for contributing toward the exercise and helping put a smile on survivors’ faces.

"We come today to give you hope and show you that you are not alone in the struggle to transform your lives,” Christine Mukundwa, the Corporate Responsibility manager of Tigo Rwanda, said.  

She hailed the survivors for showing resilience and not giving up in the face of adversity. 

"I thank Hope Academy and Tigo Rwanda for helping the community,” Pacifique  Mutaganzwa,  the leader of the village said.

Mutaganzwa added that they gave the community hope, knowing that there are people out there who care about them.
