AMAVUBI STARS skipper Haruna Niyonzima will miss today’s Tanzanian Premier League ‘clasico’ between archrivals Yanga and Simba at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

According to Yanga’s club Information Officer Baraka Kizuguto, the Rwandan international midfielder is nursing a knee injury which rules him out of this afternoon Dar es Salaam derby.

Also missing for the former champions will be midfielders Athuman Idd, Juma Abdul, Emmanuel Okwi and striker Said Bahanuzi.

The Simba and Yanga rivalry is as old as the country’s football history.

The runaway champions Simba have been camping in Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam respectively for the derby that will mark the end of this season’s Vodacom Premier League.

"Idd is a major doubt for our team after a head injury he sustained during one of our recent matches. Niyonzima is not fit enough as he nurses a knee injury, while Abdul is serving one match ban,” Kizuguto was quoted in the Tanzanian press on Friday.

Simba, on the other hand, will be without defender Haruna Shamte, according to the club’s secretary general, Ezekiel Kamwaga.
