New routes for Zambia international rally

THE AFRICA Rally Championship has established new routes for the third round of the continental rally competition, the Zambia International rally scheduled for next month.

THE AFRICA Rally Championship has established new routes for the third round of the continental rally competition, the Zambia International rally scheduled for next month.

According to the Africa rally championship website, the route is similar to last year’s event although some stages have been changed.

The Rally is scheduled to run from the 16th to 18th May 2014.

The Rally will run in the Farms of Chisamba, North of Lusaka. The course will cover a total distance of approximately 472kms of which 238kmsis made up of Competitive sections. Weather conditions are expected to be dry but cool.

All facilities for Service Park and special rates for the hotel have been negotiated for intended participants and supporters.

The Rally starts with a Super Special Stage at Lusaka Motor Club on Friday May 16. On Saturday May 17, the crews will move to Chisamba, which is about 50kms North of Lusaka.

The leg then ends back at Rally Hotel HQ in Lusaka where cars will stay overnight. The second leg is again in Chisamba. The event finishes back in Lusaka at the Hotel Intercontinental on Sunday May 18.

Rwanda national rally champion Davite Giancarlo is ranked fourth with

15 points after failing to finish the Sasol Rally in South Africa early this month.

Though he is yet to confirm his participation in the Zambia International rally, the Italia-born driver will be eager to keep pressure on Cote d’Ivoire’s Gary Chaynes, who leads the ARC standings with 43 points after two rounds.
