Members of international Non Government Oganisation (NGO’s) working in Rwanda on Monday visited Kigali Memorial Centre to pay homage to victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

It was the first time members of the 58 organisations under the umbrella of   Network of International NGO’s in Rwanda (Ningo) were  coming together to commemorate the Genocide.

Speaking to journalists, Myal Greene, the Ningo chairperson who also doubles as the Country Director of World Relief, said their goal is to positively impact on Rwanda’s development.

"Commemorating Genocide builds on the commitment of international NGO’s to improve livelihood and strengthen the resilience of Rwandans who still working hard to overcome the trauma caused by the Genocide,” Myal said.

Josephine Uwamariya, the vice-chairperson of Ningo and Action Aid International Country Director, affirmed the network’s commitment to supporting communities that are in need including survivors.

"We shall continue engaging in numerous development projects including community infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, education, food security and nutrition among others,” Uwamariya said.

Uwamariya added that Ningo will also join hands in ensuring that the ‘never again’ notion comes to reality.

"We hope this slogan comes to reality, while ensuring peace and justice, not in Rwanda alone, but the whole world,” Uwamariya reiterated.
