THE Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa) and South African Multi-national broadcaster SuperSport have agreed a four-year sponsorship pact. 

The Cecafa Secretary General Nicholas Musonye told Times Sport yesterday from Nairobi, Kenya that both parties have entered a four-year sponsorship deal which will see SuperSport being the broadcasting Rights Holder of both Cecafa Challenge Cup and Kagame Cup respectively.

"The deal which starts effective this year will see SuperSport inject some money (amount yet to be agreed upon) to support the hosting federation of the competitions for a period of four years,” added Musonye. 

SuperSport has an exclusive licence to distribute the Content and the Programmes in respect of all Club Football played in Kenya and Uganda, within the licenced territory of Sub-Saharan Africa and the Islands adjacent. 

In 2010, Digital and Pay TV broadcast DSTV/SuperSport injected $5.5m in the Kenyan football league and the following year, SuperSport reached another a five-year $5m to broadcast live topflight matches in Uganda. 

Rwanda is bidding to host this year’s Kagame cup tournament but both Cecafa and the Kigali government are yet to come to a decisive conclusion on the matter.
