Second division quarter-finals set for Saturday

The second division football league has reached the quarter-finals stage with the first leg matches set to be played on Saturday. Sunrise with 40 points from 18 matches and SEC Academy with 35 from 16 matches finished top of pool A and B respectively. Rwamagana-based Sunrise, who thrashed Intare 8-2 in the last group match, will face Unity FC, who finished fourth in Pool B at Kicukiro ground, while SEC Academy will be up against Vision Jeunesse, who came fourth in their group. Pool A first runners-up Isonga FC will face-off with Pool B second runners-up Interforce at Ferwafa ground, while last year’s Peace Cup semi-finalists Bugesera, who finished second in Pool B, will take on Sorwathe. Isonga finished second of Pool A with 33 points.

Sorwathe and Vision Jeunesse finished third and fourth with 32 points respectively. Akagera FC finished bottom of the pool with 5 points from 18 matches. Bugesera finished second of Pool B with 32 points, Unity and Interforce finished third and fourth with 26 points respectively.  University of Rwanda- College of arts and social sciences (formerly NUR) finished bottom of Pool B with 10 points from 16 matches. The return-leg matches are fixed for a week later on April 27 and winners of the two-legged encounters will advance for semi-finals. The two finalists will earn automatic tickets to the topflight division.
