Tanzanians living in Rwanda, under their association Utarwa last week, visited Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre to pay respects to 250,000 victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi buried there.

Speaking to journalists, Francis Mwaipaja, the Tanzanian Ag. Head of Mission at the High Commission in Kigali, appealed to the world to commit to the notion of ‘never again’ to genocide.

"Tanzania fully supports the efforts of the Government of Rwanda to bring about reconciliation, national unity and progress,” he said.

He called upon Rwandans to embrace the social and economic policies that are in place.

 Mwaipaja also thanked Rwandans   for their courage to choose the path of repentance, forgiveness and reconciliation, saying it’s the only way to a stable nation.

"Inaction is already a crime, just saying sorry is not enough,” Pastor Dale Emmanuel Mutabiirwa, the chairperson of Utarwa, said.

Mutabiirwa said it was a shame that the Genocide occured as the United Nations and the world looked on.
