Rwanda Handball Federation is set to organise a memorial tournament in honour of a million Rwandans who perished in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
According to federation’s Secretary General Jean Pierre Ngarambe, tournament which is planned for June, is expected to attract all local clubs as well as guest teams from Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and Burundi.
"In a bid to show our love towards our brothers and sisters, especially in the handball fraternity, who were killed in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, we have decided to organise a tournament in their memories,” Ngaramb said. He also noted that before the tournament, they plan to visit memorial sites and genocide survivors.
