The Office of the Ombudsman has released a detailed list of people who were convicted of corruption in the last three quarters of 2013.

The list has names of people who were convicted, the amount involved and the sentence handed down to the culprit.

Fifteen people were charged with corruption in the second quarter of 2013, while 32 and 36 were convicted in the third and fourth quarters, respectively.

The convicts include farmers, business owners, mediators (Abunzi), ex-combatants and members of local defence forces.

Speaking to The New Times yesterday, Deputy Ombudsman in charge of Preventing and Fighting Corruption, Clément Musangabatware, said the convicts also return the amount involved in case of misappropriation of public funds.
