Rwanda Kungfu Federation plans to organise a Genocide memorial tournament, Its president, Jackson Mucyo Havugimana, has said.
He said the tournament, to be named ‘Never Again’, will be held over a six-week period from May to June. Speaking to Times Sport on Wednesday, Havugimana said they had dispatched officials to traverse across the country to see if they can find details about kungfu players, officials or fans, who were killed during the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi. Mucyo said the preliminary competitions will be held in all the provinces and Kigali and the winners will compete in the finals at Amahoro Indoor Stadium. Some of the teams expected to compete in the event include;
Kimisagara Hung-Li Club, Mask de la Paux, Issa Club, Taich Club, Musanze Shaolin, Rubavu Shaolin Temple, Muhanga Kung-fu Club, National University of Rwanda Kung-fu Club, Wush Kungfu Club and Nyanza Shaolin Temple.
