No major security incidents have been recorded across the country in relation to the ongoing Genocide official commemoration week, The New Times has learnt.

Both Police and officials at the National Commission for the Fight against Genocide (CNLG) said commemoration activities are generally going on smoothly, contrary to the past when violent incidents during such periods were common.

But Police spokesperson ACP Damas Gatare said there were four cases of genocide ideology registered in the districts of Gasabo, Gatsibo and Nyarugenge.

Jean de Dieu Mucyo, Executive Secretary, CNLG, welcomed the general public to report genocide ideology related actions to the hotline, 3560.

He also urged public to continue supporting and comforting Genocide survivors.

The official mourning for the more than a million Rwandans killed during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi started on April 7 and will run until April 13.
