FIFA PRESIDENT Joseph S. Blatter has expressed his deepest sympathies to Rwandans on the occasion to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. 

"On behalf of the international football community, I would like to express our most profound sympathy to the people of Rwanda and wish them a calm and happy future. I sincerely hope that their youthful determination and courage will bring them good fortune and allow them to face the challenges of the future,” Blatter said in a statement on Monday.

Blatter who didn’t manage to attend the commemoration event in Kigali was represented by Fifa vice president Issa Hayatou, who is also the President of the Confederation of African Football (Caf).

The Rwanda Genocide against the Tutsi claimed about one million men, women and children. The cruel acts lasted about 100 days.
