REFER TO the story, "Rwandans are ready to protect national gains, says Kabarebe”, (The New Times, April 4). I wish to thank Defence minister James Kabarebe for highlighting the three important facts about the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Some Rwandans seem to be ignorant about these Genocide facts – namely: the Genocide against the Tutsi was thoroughly prepared and executed; it was committed by Rwandans against compatriots; and it was stopped by Rwandans.

I extend my sincere appreciation to former RPF/RPA soldiers for their patriotism, love and sacrifice in saving millions of Rwandan lives despite having been abandoned by the international community.

Long live President Paul Kagame for commanding a brave army that brought an end to the Genocide and restored order in the country.
