25-year-old Colombe Ituze Ndutiye is a fashion designer and the founder of INCO Icyusa, one of Rwanda’s fashion labels that deal in traditional and modern styles. Ndutiye spoke to Society’s Doreen Umutesi about her personal fashion sense.

1. How would you describe your dress sense?

I have a relaxed dress sense with black and white being my favourite colours.

2. What’s your favourite clothing item?

Pants and dresses are my favourite clothing items because they suit me on any occasion. 

3. Where do you shop your clothes from?

I don’t have a specific shop because I design most of them myself.  But that doesn’t mean that when I see something nice I will hesitate to buy it.

4. What do you consider when shopping clothes?

Colour and fabric quality are some of the most important things I consider when I’m shopping for clothes. The outfit must also be simple with a beautiful style. At times, when I like the fabric I would decide what style is better with it and I will design it. 

5. What is your favourite fashion accessory?

My favourite fashion accessories are bags and bangles. 

6. What is your favourite clothing item on a guy?

That would definitely be shoes. 

7. What’s your favourite scent?

I don’t really have one specific scent I like at the moment but anything that smells good for me, I will go for it.

8. Any fashion advice?

Keep it simple but also remember at the back of your mind what outfit suits which occasion. Never wear something you are physically or emotionally uncomfortable with. As a fashion designer, I also request people to check up on us INCO Icyusa if they need outfits that are different and unique.
