It is around that time when the final exams for the end of the semester are about to start and every lecturer is rushing to give their students CATs, (Continuous Assessment Tests) that happen either during class hours or after class. Most times at 4p.m.

So as I entered the examination room, I found this guy fidgeting, wishing the professor could delay the exam so that it gets a little dark by the start of the paper, which would allow him to easily cheat without being noticed. It was his prayer and in his wildest of dreams, he believed that this would happen.

We started the exam officially. Of course, they started by giving out the answer sheets. The next step was to receive the question paper. It was an ordinary paper, but it looked to me like my ‘death sentence’ statement sheet.

I was seated at the back of the class, but from the look across the faces of the students at the front row, the paper was going to hit us really hard. Many of them had this fake smile on their faces, but you could literally tell that they were nervous and anxious—almost peeing on themselves.

I started preparing myself for the worst that there could be. When the question paper finally got to me, I perused through the questions very fast—and I couldn’t believe that they were actually so easy. It was a big relief and I knew that I would be able to answer all the questions properly.

As I’m busy scribbling away in my answer booklet, I turn and find this chic peeking into her neighbour’s paper. I couldn’t believe just how big someone’s eyes could get until I saw her. She was stretching her neck like an ostrich, and her eyes were protruding like a binocular.  As for my neighbour, he just sat and surrendered everything to fate; pen down, mouth wide open, paper upside down and not bothered about anything. Wow! I think I admired this guy’s ‘I don’t care’ attitude.

Well, I answered all the questions but I can’t guarantee that I passed all of them. Yes, I am one of those students who say the paper was so easy yet the marks will say otherwise. Anyway, when the results come out, I will definitely let you know.
