Francis Mugisha is the new chairman of the board of directors of the Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD).

Mugisha was appointed during the bank’s ordinary shareholders’ general meeting on Monday. He replaces Bernard Ndungu who left for a new role as accountant general of Kenya’s national treasury.

A chartered management accountant, Mugisha is the current president of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Rwanda (iCPAR). He has served on a number of boards, including BRD where he was a non-executive director. He also once chaired the audit committee of the bank.

"We are very pleased to welcome Francis Mugisha at the helm of our board of directors,” said Alex Kanyankole, the chief executive officer. "We are confident that his extensive knowledge and service to the bank, as well as wide-ranging portfolio of responsibility as a seasoned member of the board at BRD, will enable us build upon our successes,” he added.
