FORMER Rayon Sports head coach Didier Gomes da Rosa has expressed his interest in managing Amavubi with the assurance of guiding the national team to the 2016 Africa Nations Championship (Chan) glory.

Speaking to Times Sport recently from Cameroon where he is managing Coton Sport, Gomes said: "If I am given the Amavubi job, I would help the nation win Chan title in 2016.”

"Rwanda is my second home and I love the country. Given the opportunity I would do everything in my powers is to ensure that Amavubi win the African championship, especially since Rwanda is hosting the 2106 edition.”

He added: "Before heading to Cameroon, I talked to some football administrators in Rwanda and they know very well my ambitions and targets if I was given the chance to manage the national team.”

"However, at the moment, I do not know if they think I am the best person for the job. We have to wait and see. If they think I am the perfect man for the job, then I will take the challenge with both hands with the single objective of delivering results and excellence,” added Gomes who last season helped Rayon Sports win the national league title, their first silverware in seven years. 

Gomes resigned from the Nyanza-based club earlier this year.

According to unconfirmed reports, Gomes is just one of the several coaches who have engaged with the local football federation, Ferwafa, with the view of taking up the hot seat.

Others include former Philippine head coach Hans Michael Weiss (German), former Amavubi coaches Croatian Branko Tucak and Serbian Ratomir Dujkovic, former APR Dutch coach Rene Feller, Rayon Sports’ Belgian coach Luc Eymael, acting Amavubi head coach Eric Nshimiyimana, and former Malawi tactician Belgian Tom Saintfiet. 

Nshimiyimana, alongside his technical team comprised of Jean Baptiste Kayiranga, goalkeeping coach Ibrahim Mugisha, as well as team doctors Nuhu Assuman and Moussa Hakizimana, will see their contract expire this month.

It remains unclear whether their contract will be extended.
