THE Kenyan national football team coach Adel Amrouche has denied reports linking him to the Amavubi Stars coaching job.

According to unconfirmed reports, five people, among them Amrouche and the incumbent Amavubi coach Eric Nshimiyimana, have expressed interest in the job.

Amrouche, an Algerian with Belgian nationality, denied the rumours on his official face book page on Friday. In his post he instead backed current Rayon Sports coach Luc Eymael for the job.

"It’s not true that I am interested in the Amavubi job. I am happy with the current job of coaching the Kenyan national team, but I wish success to whoever gets the job. I believe in Rwanda, they have a coach in Rayon, who can take Amavubi to another level. Give coach Eymael the chance,” Amrouche said in his face book post.

According to the Rwanda football governing body ( Ferwafa) a new coach will be announced in May, but it remains to be seen whether Nshimiyimana would be retained or replaced.

Nshimiyimana has been in charge since March 2013 when Muletin Sredojovic Micho was booted.

Other names of those reported to be eying the job include   former APR Dutch coach Rene Feller, former Rayon Sports coach Didier Gomez da Rosa, who is now in charge of Cotton Sports of Cameroon as well as Ratomir Djukovic, who took Rwanda to the 2004 Nations Cup finals tournament in Tunisia.

In 2007, Amrouche became the coach of the Burundi national football team and in February 2012, he resigned just a day after a 2–1 win against Zimbabwe in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

He was named coach of the Kenya national football team, taking over from James Nandwa, who was acting coach after the departure of Henri Michel.
