Rwanda Military Hospital (RMH) will soon with a Turkish Hospital chain, Memorial Health Care Group, so as to improve the quality of specialised services.
This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between representatives of the two institutions on Wednesday.
"This development comes after our delegates (from RMH) expressed interest in partnership as far as provision of [speciality health care services is concerned, during a courtesy visit to them (Turkey) early this year,” read a statement sent to the New Times.
"The overall objective of this agreement is to strengthen collaboration and building a long term, mutually beneficial partnership for better healthcare services for the citizens of Rwanda and the Great Lakes Region”.
The deal includes provision of specialist consultation services, training of medical and paramedical personnel and treatment of patients in need of specialized care. The statement adds that staff from the group will periodically visit Rwanda upon request, to conduct medical specialty clinics in transplant surgery, Cardiology, Oncology, Orthopedics, Nephrology, Neurosurgery, Pediatric Cardiology & other specialties as required from time to time.
They will also conduct clinical lectures, and assist with research, among other things.
