RWANDA’s U-20 head coach Richard Tardy wants his team to play more matches in preparation for the qualifiers for the 2015 Africa Youth Championships.

The junior wasps failed to contain their Burundian counterparts in a friendly game on Thursday at Kigali Regional Stadium, going down 1-0 thanks to Hassan Bizimana’s goal.

"We still have a lot of work to do before we play our second round qualifiers. We need to play more build-up matches,” the Frenchman said after Thursday’s loss.

He noted that the team is not scoring goals, which means "we need to work on that area before playing Gabon.”

Rwanda dominated the first half and could have found the back of the net on a couple of occasions but striker Blaise Itangishaka was wasteful in front of goal.

Tardy was using the game as part of his team’s preparations for their second round qualifier against Gabon.

If Rwanda overcomes Gabon after the two legs set for May, they will take on the winner between Sierra Leone/Guinea and Ghana in the final qualifying round.
