President Paul Kagame yesterday held talks with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Seychelles, Patrick Herminie, at Village Urugwiro, Kigali.

They explored possibilities of commencing bilateral economic ties.

In his news briefing shortly after the meeting, Herminie, who has been on a  five-day visit to Rwanda,  said the two countries have a lot they can do together in order to grow their economies.  

"Seychelles has made significant advancement, especially in the area of tourism, and I believe Rwanda whose national carrier now flies to different places around the continent can take advantage of this,” he said.

"RwandAir may not only promote Rwanda’s tourism in Seychelles but can also ferry merchandise to Seychelles from Rwanda, especially agriculture products; it can bring what’s needed from Seychelles to Rwanda.”

The President of the Senate, Dr. Jean-Damascène Ntawukuliryayo, said the discussion between President Kagame and the Seychelles Speaker dwelt mainly on the avenues through which the two countries can strengthen bilateral cooperation.
