The Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) on Monday handed over 100 houses to Genocide survivors in Nyaruguru and Gisagara districts.

The project, implemented by the RDF reverve forces, targets areas with large numbers of Genocide survivors in the country. So far, 300 housing units have been constructed across the country, said the Chief of Staff of the RDF reserve forces, Lt Gen. Fred Ibingira.

Epiphanie Mukabacondo, a Genocide widow and mother of six in Gisagara, said she was relieved since her dilapidated house leaked every time it rained.

Leandre Karekezi, the mayor of Gisagara District, commended the RDF reserve forces for a job well done.

At the same function, the RDF gave a cow to an 80-year-old woman who had been keeping her neighbour’s cow with promise that once it produced, she  would be rewarded a calf.
