RWANDA ROLL-BALL federation is set to launch the Roll ball sport in Rubavu District from March 28 to 30 at Centre Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle. 

According to the Federation’s Secretary General Cisco Ssegawa, the launch is part of plans to popularise the sport in the country.

"We are doing everything possible to ensure that the sport is known in the country. We have been playing the game since 2008, but it’s still unknown in some parts of the country, thus the need to have the sport extended to different regions of the country,” Ssegawa.

The game is mixture of basketball and handball and players use roller-skates or Inline skates with knee protection gears, flaps and helmets.

Roll ball is a played between two teams with 12 players on each team. Out of 12, only 6 players are allowed to play on court at a time.

During the game, the ball can be held in a single hand or both hands. A player must dribble the ball while carrying it. There are two referees in a match and the game is registered under the International Roll ball Federation.
