KICUKIRO DISTRICT based SEC Academy football club are targeting qualification to the next season’s topflight division.

SEC Academy, who are leading Pool B, beat Unity FC 4-2 on Saturday to close-in on finishing top of their group. Thanks to the contribution of Isaak Muganza with a double, Frank Lomami and Abdul Sibomana with one goal respectively for SEC academy.

Hopeful SEC will face NUR and ASPOR before the pool stages wind-up.

Talking to Times Sports, head coach Sosthène Habimana said, "Our major objective is qualifying for next season’s topflight division. We are in the right path and if we continue with this rhythm, we will achieve our target,”

He also explained the importance of finishing top of the pool, saying, "We first want to finish top of our pool so that we can face fourth-placed team of Pool A in the quarter-final round.”

SEC and Interforce jointly lead Pool B standings with 26 points but the latter has a superior goal difference. Bugesera and Unity occupy third and fourth positions respectively with 23 points each.

In Pool A, Sunrise maintain grip of the standings with 35 points in 15 matches played. Isonga and Rwamagana are second and third with 28 points each, two points adrift of fourth-placed Sorwathe.
