Team Rwanda rider Jean Bosco Nsengiyumva was named the best climber at Stage 3 of the Tour International de Blida in Algeria on Tuesday.

Nsengiyumva shade off opposition from Algerian Lagab Azzedine, who is renowned for his climbing prowess at many a tour on the African continent including the annual Tour of Rwanda.

The Rwanda Cycling Federation president Aimable Bayingana said, "Congratulations to Nsengiyumva for finishing second in the Algerian race.”

The 21-year- old Nsengiyumva clocked 3hrs:10:54 after covering a distance of 114.4km from Zeralda to Chrea, one minute behind the stage winner Amanuel Egerzeigza from Eritrea, who crossed the finish line in a time of 3hrs:09:54.

Team Rwanda teammates Valens Ndayisenga (3hrs:12:27), Joseph Biziyaremye (3hrs:16:32) and Gasore Haregeka (3hrs:16:32) finished in 7th, 11th and 15th positions respectively.

Emile Bitunimana (3hrs:19:43) and Jeremie Karegeya (3hrs:21:06) completed the race in the 24th and 28th positions in that order in the race that attracted 42 cyclists from other African countries like Eritrea, Morocco, Tunisia, hosts Algeria and several clubs from the continent.

Ndayisenga finished sixth overall at the Tour International de Blida. Team Rwanda is hoping to maintain this form when they commence a fresh challenge in the three-day Tour International de Setif in the same country, which was due to start yesterday.
