Film premier and award gala
The 2nd edition of the film script and film competition will be wound up by a festive FILM GALA, the highlight of which is expected to be the presentation of three of the most breathtaking new short films produced in Rwanda in the last six months. The ceremony will take place on Sunday at Serena Hotel starting at 6:30pm to 9:00pm and entrance is free. The winner will walk away with Rwf 1 million after the audience decides the best film. Gertrude Fester, a Kigali based civil rights activist from South Africa will deliver a keynote speech on Rethinking Reconciliation thereby introducing the message of all the films: reconciliation and solidarity building.
Digital publishing lecture
Goethe Institut will host writers, poets, journalists and bloggers for a two-hour session in "self-publishing in the digital era” that will focus on discovering existing digital platforms and encouraging young writers to embrace online publishing possibilities. The event will take place this Friday starting at 6:30pm to 9:00pm. With expert presentations, discussion and lots of opportunities for questions, this is an event not to be missed if you are serious about being a writer or an online publisher. Entrance is free!
Christine Creative Collections
All fashion enthusiasts will head to Kimironko opposite Restoration Church (Casabonita Hall) for the launch of Christine Creative Collections. Christine specialises in African fashion but there will a display of different fabrics that people will use to place orders that can be delivered in two days. Entrance is free! The event will start at 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm and there will be plenty of drinks and eats. Don’t miss!
Cinema
Century Cinema, located at Kigali City Towers is screening new movies: Mr. Peabody and Sherman will be showing at 2:15pm and 4:15pm during weekends and 4:15pm during weekdays. About Last Night will show on weekdays and weekends at 7:00pm and 9:00pm respectively. Robo Cop 2 is on at 4:45pm during weekdays and at 2:00pm on weekends. Monuments Men will show at 4:40pm during weekdays and 2:15pm and 4:40pm on weekends. Winter’s Tale will be screened at 6.40pm and 9.10pm throughout the week. A new Indian movie, Shaadi Ke Side Effects, will be screening at 6:00pm and 9:00pm during weekdays and on weekends. 2D movies are Rwf2500 and 3D movies are Rwf3500.
