POLICE IN Musanze District are investigating a case involving an accountant in Banque Polpulaire’s Musanze branch who reportedly stole Rwf15 million.
The suspect (name withheld), was arrested on Monday following reports from the bank management about the missing money, according to Superintendent Emmanuel Hitayezu, the Northern Province regional police spokesperson. She is currently held at Muhoza Police Station in Musanze District. Hitayezu advised bank managers to be more vigilant on security.
In 2012, a cashier at the same bank vanished with Rwf13 million.
Jean Marie Vianney Kagenza, the branch manager, confirmed the incident but declined to divulge more details, saying he was on leave when it happened.
