Dear Doctor; I am 21 years old and I am worried about the sizes of my breast. My left breast is a lot more bigger than the right one. Could this be some kind of hormonal imbalance or is it a deformity? Can it be corrected and what specialist can I see?
Dear Doctor;

Angel N, ULK.
Dear Angel,
Size of the breasts varies from person to person. Amount of fat, number of milk ducts, bearing children or not, feeding a child, genetic factors, there are several factors influencing the size of breasts. Depending on weight gain or loss also, breast size can vary. Normally during puberty, as breasts start growing there can be asymmetry in growth. After 20 years or so, the two breasts can differ in size, but it is said that if the difference is more than one bra cup in volume, it is significant. This could be due to a tumor or cyst in breast, hence needs to be evaluated by a gynecologist or surgeon. The only treatment for this deformity is by plastic surgery. Other means is to camouflage the deformity by using pads with bras, among other measures.
