Telecom firms have taken the battle for subscribers online as more Rwandans embrace the Internet. In fact, all the three telecoms; Airtel, MTN and Tigo are always engaging subscribers on social media platforms like Facebook, g+ and Twitter.

To up the stakes and solidify its presence as well as hook more clients, especially football enthusiasts, Airtel has unveiled a mobile phone application that will enable English football club, Manchester United, fans get the latest club news, exclusive videos, match highlights, live in-game updates and player profiles for free.

The application is also free to download on iOS and Android mobile devices.

"We want to offer clients innovative products that add value to their lives,” John Magara, Airtel’s brand and communications manager, said yesterday.
