French prosecutors on Wednesday sought a life sentence for Pascal Simbikangwa who is facing charges related to the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Simbikangwa was the intelligence chief of the genocidal regime that planned the massacre of an estimated one million people.

The trial, the first of its kind in France, is set to wrap up on Friday, after it started on February 4.

Simbikangwa, 54, was arrested in 2008 on France's Indian Ocean island of Mayotte where he lived disguised under an assumed name of "Safari.” 

He denies all the charges.
